There are few things more quintessentially Florida than an Amelia Island Shrimp Boat. This past weekend, Bryn and I had the pleasure of celebrating our anniversary evening on this wonderful island. Almost 15 years ago now, when Bryn and I had just started dating, we discovered the rural southern charm of Amelia Island and have been finding our way back ever since. We began our anniversary night with a wonderfully scenic trip along the coastal road between Jacksonville and Fernandina, then stopped in to Cafe Karibo for some great local seafood. After dinner we strolled along Center Street and popped our heads into a few shops while we waited on the sun to light up the sky with its beautiful sunset colors. Over the past week, there have been some truly amazing sunsets in our area and while the sunset itself wasn’t spectacular, soon after the last sliver of sun disappeared over the horizon, the richness of the colors grew and the manifold layers of clouds began to glow bright pinks, oranges, and purples as day gave way to night. What a wonderful ending to a splendid night out!
