A Feast for the Eyes – November’s Cars and Cofee

Rare Rides and Good Friends at Jacksonville’s Cars and Coffee

Deremer Studios Automotve Photography - Cars and Coffee

Wow!  It’s been a busy couple of weeks here at Deremer Studios, but thankfully we were still able to get out to Jacksonville’s Cars and Coffee this weekend!  After skipping a month thanks to our buddy, Hurricane Matthew, it was nice to see everyone come out yet again for the penultimate Continue reading

Celebrating 4-Wheeled Athletes at the Jaguars Car Show

So, as time allows, we’ve decided to do our part to highlight the amazing car scene here in Jacksonville, FL – such as the Jaguars Car Show from this past weekend.  Sure, Jacksonville is known for our connection to the Navy, being a hub for industries like logistics, banking and healthcare, and of course for having a bridge for each day of the week spanning the St Johns River – but the area is also known for a rather splendid, albeit diverse, car culture.  From the amazing automotive spectacle that is the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, to grass roots movements such as the popular Cars and Coffee meetups arranged by Automotive Addicts – Jacksonville is full of folks that have 10W30 with their cereal in the mornings and go to bed with the sounds of throbbing V8s dancing in their heads.  So, it was no surprise to see a great collection of cars at this weekend’s Jaguars Car Show.

Ranging from late model sportscars and exotics, to a vintage Porsche and a race-spec Shelby Mustang – there was something for pretty much anyone – unless you hate cars – but that’s your own fault…  As is often the case, we had a busy Saturday, so our trip to the show was shorter than I would have liked, but it was a great time to catch up with old friends, make a few new ones – and see some great metal!

As always, please feel free to download as many photos as you like – we have sized the photos to 1080P HD wallpaper, perfect for your desktop, laptop, tablet or TV – and if you enjoy our photos, please share this blog with your friends and help us get the word out!

Our First Visit to Jacksonville’s Cars and Coffee

A Long Overdue Trip to Cars and Coffee

Deremer Studios Automotve Photography

For being as car crazy as I tend to be, you may be surprised to know that I had yet to visit Cars and Coffee – our city’s monthly gathering of gearheads and their manifold rides along the scenic St Johns river.  After spending this past Saturday morning at Cars and Coffee, I really regret taking so long to finally make it to one!  But alas, past regrets aside, I did manage to bring my camera along and couldn’t resist taking a few – well a few hundred photos…

I was quite pleasantly surprised at the number and diversity of vehicles at Cars and Coffee.  From hot rods to exotics, antiques to modern muscle – the list of cars was all over the board.  Many cars had been nicely restored, many of the modern vehicles had any number of modifications, and there was even a good helping of cars, like my TR6, that were in varying stages of restoration – so I felt right at home.  Though the TR6 is a relatively rare car in the States, I was surprised to discover not one, but two other TR6’s at the meet-up.  All in all, it was a great event, and one I will certainly make an effort to be a part of much more often!

Lightspeed! Automotive Photography with PixelStick

Behold the wonders of PixelStick

Deremer Studios Automotve Photography

About this time last year, I bought the first piece of dedicated equipment (a boom system designed for taking motion photos of cars) for our growing automotive photography business.  It’s proven a worthwhile investment.  So as we prepare for 2016, we decided to buy another tool – this time the PixelStick – an innovative programmable light stick with surprisingly versatile capabilities.  Our primary purpose for purchasing the PixelStick was to help illuminate cars during night shoots, but as we discovered it can do much, much more!  Last night, we did our first trial shoot on two vehicles, and I must say I am quite impressed with our new piece of kit.

Essentially, the PixelStick is a six foot array of 200 RGB LEDs, a handle, and a controller.  Right out of the box, the controller comes with a selection of patters you can use to create a wide range of stunning effects.  But here’s the really cool part – you can make your own patters and even images to project using your PixelStick.  For example, we’re headed down to Daytona this weekend to cover the Rolex 24 for Top Gear, so we created a selection of patters and images that would compliment some of the vehicles we may photograph in the garages – such as the white and blue pattern (above) to accent a vintage Shelby GT350 we’ll be shooting.   All in all, we’re quite excited about the potential of the PixelStick.  Stay tuned for more images!

Welcome Back TR6 & The 2013 Amelia Concours

Okay, so this may be old news, but I never found the time to tell you back in July about it – namely the new – well, sort of new – addition to the Deremer clan.  The above car is a Triumph TR6 and on July 3rd, it found its way back to Florida after over 30 years ‘abroad’ in other parts of the country.  This TR has actually been in our family for years.  First my uncle purchased it sometime before the Second Dynasty of the Egyptian Empire, followed by my Dad purchasing it from him in 1987.  For some reason unknown to me, he let my brother and I drive the car quite a bit, including to school (where one day the football players decided it would be fun to pick it up and turn it around).  Surprisingly, the car survived!

For the last 12+ years, I’ve been rather relentlessly and not-so-subtly hinting that the TR would do very well down in Florida – and thankfully the fruits of my efforts were finally reaped this spring when my Dad offered the TR to me.  Since getting it down here, I’ve put a few hundred more miles on the odometer and have had an absolute ball!

On a slightly realted note, we’ve now received official word that we’ll have our media credentials for the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance.  And, as always, Enjoy the photos!
