An Unlikely Pair of Unique Glen Kernan Homes

On an unseasonably cool and crisp Florida spring morning, we headed to the Glen Kernan neighborhood before dawn to photograph a pair of gorgeous and yet dissimilar new projects for our friends at Dostie Homes.  The first home, above, with its cedar shakes and traditional symmetry, was perfectly fitted to the New England-like weather of the day.  Inside, the home is far from antique, blending traditional elements and a few hints of craftsman architecture with a more spacious, modern open floor plan.  The second home, just a few hundred yards from the one above, offers up a more Mediterranean feel – blurring the lines between inside and out with its sweeping rear facade opening to the outdoor kitchen and backyard beyond.

The Luxury of a Dostie Tower Home

One of the recurring themes in many Dostie Homes is the prominent addition of a grand tower to the facade.  These tower homes offer a unique yet somehow traditional look, reminiscent of the the Victorian-era summer homes I would pass in my youth, lining the rocky coast of New Hampshire.   This particular tower home, located in Nocatee, offers all the charm of a traditional facade, while offering a modern, open floor plan, lots of storage, and even a stunning, raised-ceiling tower lounge (below).   The model home is open most days, and offers some great design concepts that you can take with you into your own home.  Be sure to check out our gallery for some great ideas for kids bedrooms that this wonderful tower home has to offer.

Dostie’s Latest Las Calinas Masterpeice

Over the years, we’ve photographed quite a few homes – from modern to traditional, humble to opulent.  Many of these shoots have been for Dostie Homes, and while I have thoroughly enjoyed all of their work, this Las Calinas home really calls to me.  If ever we were to move, this house would be at the very top of my list.  From the supersized four car garage to the spacious, yet somehow traditional floor plan, to the bedroom layout and the overall style – I could really imagine this place being our home.   Check out all the wonderful details of this home by clicking on the photos in the gallery below!

Drew’s Fun & Fantastic Bar Mitzvah

It’s always fun to connect with old friends – and a few weekends ago, we had the chance to do just that.  Drew’s dad and I go way back – having worked together for many years at a local Logistics company before I started Deremer Studios.  Several years ago, before the days of the blog, we also had the pleasure of shooting their eldest son’s Bar Mitzvah and so, when it was Drew’s turn, we got the call!  We had a real blast spending the day with this great family and capturing Drew’s special day.

Philip & Krystal’s Classic Orange Park Wedding

Some say Spring – with its’ budding flowers and warming temperatures – makes for perfect wedding conditions.  That’s true in Florida – and Philip and Krystal’s wedding certainly proved the point!  The happy couple had a wonderful traditional service in the church before traveling to the St Johns River for bridal photos along its scenic banks – then it was off to the reception, held at the quaint Orange Park Woman’s Club.  While the weather inside was a bit frightful (thanks to a broken air conditioner) it didn’t stop the wonderful group from having a ball.
