Partner Spotlight: Amelia Island CVB

Part 2 in our blog series honoring the unique, inspiring and often incredible work of our clients.

Today, we wanted to take a few moments to brag on the goods folks of the Amelia Island CVB. As you can imagine, there have been few industries hit harder than the men and women supporting tourism and conventions – and these are two of the biggest economic drivers on Amelia Island. Yet despite the hardships, and against the odds, our friends at the CVB have always gone above and beyond to support the businesses and events that make Amelia Island so very special. Though their staff is small, the group has pulled off some amazing things over the years, and its been our great pleasure to be small part of the fun! The island regularly appears on the top of desirable travel destinations, both nationally and internationally, a true testament to the hard work of the CVB.

Jekyll Island Glory: Fire in the Sky

A Spectacular “Fire in the Sky” Bookend Set of Dusk and Dawn Displays with a Side of Driftwood Astrophotography

Jekyll Island Fire in the Sky - Sunrise over calm waters

Late last week, we had the pleasure of spending a night along Georgia’s beautiful Golden Isles before photographing the Days Inn Jekyll Island to help them highlight their newly remodeled rooms. The evening happened to coincide with the Alpha Monocerotids meteor shower which promised to deliver up to 400 shooting starts per hour as the earth briefly passed through the debris field of this ancient comet. Add to that an absolutely stunning sunset and sunrise, and the night’s session certainly warranted our “Fire in the Sky” moniker. Here’s just a sampling of the over 100 fine art images we captured – but please feel free to visit our full collection from Jekyll Island here.

Hurricane Dorian – A Beautiful Fury

Fine Art Photographs of Hurricane Dorian’s Glancing Impact on Florida’s First Coast

Hurricane Dorian - Jacksonville Beach Pier Waves

I don’t have to tell you, Hurricanes are a fierce force of nature – and Hurricane Dorian has proven to be one of the fiercest Atlantic storms since records began. The utter destruction and climbing death toll left in the wake of the storm’s lingering 185mph sustained winds over the Bahamas is just starting to be known, and our heart goes out to those on the islands, and the countless families awaiting news about their loved ones. Yet despite all of the horror, there is even in such darkness a beauty in the storm – an eerie, sober sort of melancholy beauty – but beauty all the same.

The Wonderful World of White Oak

We recently had the opportunity to shoot another event with our friends at the enchanted White Oak Conservation Center.  Hidden away on the dirt roads of North Florida, located along the meandering St Marys River, this great location has a collection of mostly African endangered and threatened species.  From rhinos and cheetahs to giraffe and zebra – this open plan conservation center makes you feel half a world away.

This time, our group had the pleasure of seeing many of the species White Oak houses, fed the giraffe, and even interacted with a few of the young cheetahs.  Certainly a memorable experience!  The outing concluded with a great tour of the Big Game Room – filled with amazing artifacts from history, both ancient and modern – and was capped by a gourmet dinner in the Great Hall.  Young and not so young alike had some fun at the vintage bowling alley, antique pool tables and all the other wonderful amenities found at White Oak.  Below are some of our favorite photos – enjoy!

Fun Under the Amelia Sun – Part 2

Last week we had the privilege of spending several days at the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island with a great commercial client.  The resort not only provided some wonderful meals and amazing service, but they also coordinated a selection of great activities.  In this post, I’ve highlighted a trip to the enchanted White Oak Conservation Center, full of mostly African endangered and threatened species.  This tour included the opportunity to watch the Cheetahs run, interact with two species of rhino, and feed a family of giraffe.  Certainly a memorable experiencing!

The exciting day concluded with a trip the the Ritz’s own AAA 5-diamond rated SALT restaurant, topped off with a fantastic beachfront fireworks display.  Enjoy the photos!
