What’s a photographer to do when shoots are few and far between, with the whole world pushing one of the biggest pause buttons in history? In an effort to come alongside our wonderful clients, many of whom are in the same boat as we are, we’re kicking off this series to share some of our favorite memories and the often extraordinary work of our clients. So, who should we spotlight first? We’ve worked with so many great companies, but Southeastern Grocers (SEG) seems the perfect pick, given their work on the front lines of this pandemic – normal men and women elevated by this crisis to the rightful place of brave heroes.

A Week in the Life of a Vegetable: Locally Sourced with Southeastern Grocers

Getting to the Roots of Southeastern Grocers’ Locally Sourced Produce

While heat and humidity are not my cup of tea, the warm weather and long days of summer mark prime growing season for locally sourced southern crops.  So, what better time to spend a week touring family-owned farms that provide Southeastern Grocers (BI-LO, Harveys and Winn-Dixie) with fresh, locally sourced produce at prime ripeness.   To add to the excitement, award-winning chef Curtis Stone – a longtime advocate for locally sourced, in-season produce – accompanied the group, along with produce associates from around the company, to learn more about the art of growing produce.  From a squash and zucchini farm in the foothills of South Carolina, to pepper and cucumber farms and a peach orchard in central Georgia – we had a grand time photographing this unique tour for the good folks of Southeastern Grocers!

Despite the sweltering summer heat, it was a true pleasure to spend the week with the fine men and women who work so hard to bring fresh fruits and vegetables to our tables.  It was immensely informative and a grand ol’ time.  Of course, having a Corvette for the week courtesy of Avis didn’t hurt either…  But more on that soon!

A Comcast Soiree and Scooby Too!

You know how people talk about coming full circle?  Well this shoot was that sort of experience for me.  As I was looking up the address for our shoot with Comcast Spotlight, it seemed awfully familiar.   And it was.  You see, I am no stranger to 10751 Deerwood Park Blvd.  For seven years, I spent my weekdays fooling around (and occasionally working) as the marketing guy for CEVA Logistics – my cubicle on the third floor.  I made many good friends and even more fond memories there, and when I departed to run Deremer Studios, the parting was bittersweet.  Today, half of the third floor, where CEVA’s executive offices and board room once were, now belongs to Comcast, and  walking into this eerily familiar yet strikingly different space was  a real throwback.

The event itself was great fun.  From a cupcake workshop hosted by Sweet! By Holly, a photo op with the one and only Scooby Do, some crazy indoor drone flying, and a photo session with the guys from Duck Dynasty (in cardboard form) – all came together for a memorable party.  Catering was provided by our friends at Up Catering – and I can personally vouch for the tastiness of their stuffed mushrooms!

Beach-side Olympians at the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island

2013 10 Event SuperDimension 04 Amelia Island

I’ve got one more post for you today – this time a fun (and competitive) corporate event hosted at The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island.  This energetic group, SuperDimension, spent much of last week enjoying the cool fall weather along the Atlantic coast – including an awesome afternoon of fun-filled challenges on the beach.  From an obstacle course and relay race, to memory games and a water balloon contest (above), this was a full-body experience.  The afternoon was capped with a team tug of war which the group absolutely loved!

A few nights later, the group had their awards dinner – and to be honest, parts of it were absolutely hilarious (intentionally) – with awards for such things as best celebrity lookalike and “you should have known better”.  Of course, there were the serious awards too – but the group really did know how to have a good time.  As always, feel free to download any or all of the images for use as desktop wallpaper!  Enjoy!

I’ll Take the Wine Festival with a Side of Fine Dining

This month, we had the pleasure of shooting two events for Amelia Island.  The first, as hinted at above, was of the annual Amelia Island Wine Festival.  The event boasts a great combination of top-shelf local wineries, as well as other award-winning regional and national vintners.  The festival also featured fine cuisine from a variety of local restaurants, including a tasty and creative take on paella from the good folks at Espana.
