Exploring the Southeast in a 2016 Ford Fusion
Last month, we had the pleasure of photographing another vehicle for our friends at Avis – this time a 2016 Ford Fusion. It was a bit less epic than our 5,600-mile western adventure in a 328i, but with a big blue building, a trip on a ferry, and stunning sunset to boot, I certainly can’t complain!
Our trip with the 2016 Ford Focus included a quick overnight in Atlanta, where I stumbled upon (and may have shopped a bit in) an Ikea. Once back in Jacksonville, we took to some of my favorite shooting areas on a pretty dreary afternoon. As day gave way to night, we crossed the St Johns River, at historic Mayport, using the ever-faithful St Johns River Ferry – en route to our favorite little coastal hammock, Amelia Island. We arrived along the Amelia River just in time for a great sunset, framed by one of the many shrimp boats that helped to put Amelia Island on the map. All in all, we logged over 700 miles and averages an impressive 34 MPG.
