January 2020 Jacksonville Cars and Coffee

Our Epic Gallery from Jacksonville Car Culture’s January Cars and Coffee at the Avenues Mall

After a busy Christmas break traveling through Virginia and New Hampshire (photos coming soon) we arrived back in Jacksonville just in time for the Roar Before the Rolex 24 (photos also coming soon…) and this weekend’s Jacksonville Cars and Coffee – the very first Cars and Coffee of the new decade – and just possibly the largest turn out for the event yet! As we are want to do, we took photos – lots of them – and wanted to share a few of our favorites here with you. You can, of course, visit the full gallery as well.

In addition to the near-record crowd and an especially full exotic car row, Jacksonville Cars and Coffee sponsor, Eurofed Automotive, selected a beautiful 1961 Porsche 356 Notchback (below) for this month’s Cars and Coffee Cup award. The car’s owner and caretaker, Vincent Vuong, shared with us a bit about the unique history of the 356 Notchback. Apparently, as the story goes, Porsche was having trouble sourcing a sufficient number of cloth tops for their cabriolets in the early 60’s. Not ones to waste time or resources, hard tops were welded onto these orphan 356 cabriolets and the Notchback was born. Of the 1,470 that were produced in 1961, most were converted back into the more desirable convertibles, so unmolested Notchbacks are now few and far between – especially in the condition of Vincent’s.
