Celebrating World Ranger Day with Fond Memories from our National Park Travels
Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of visiting nearly 50 national parks, monuments and memorials. Often, we’ve done this with our family, and with virtually no exception, we’ve encountered friendly, kind, helpful and passionate rangers who have been eager to make our visit memorable and enjoyable. Here’s just a few fond ranger memories from our trips to the national parks.
A Waterfront Wonderland for Automotive Aficionados
This year, we again had the privilege of photographing the 2019 Misselwood Concours d’Elegance as part of the team from The Amelia. It’s both an honor and a joy to attend Misselwood, with its wandering lawns and quintessential New England views peppered with meticulously maintained and restored world-class cars.
Celebrating 50 Years Since Man First Stepped Foot on the Moon
On the afternoon of July 20, 1969 the whole world watched with rapturous anticipation as Apollo 11’s Lunar Module approached the surface of the moon. With bated breath, millions of people awaited 5 simple words that would mark the astronauts’ safe arrival; “Houston, the Eagle has landed”. As fuel supplies quickly dwindled and became dangerously low, Buzz Aldrin brought the Eagle to rest on the surface of the moon with a mere 40 seconds of fuel to spare.
And Reminiscing About our First Misselwood in 2018
In a little over a week, the gentle rolling lawn of Misselwood at Endicott College will be filled with the sights and sounds of a truly exceptional Concours. Rare and coveted automobiles – some over 100 years old – will tastefully dot the soft grassy grounds of the mansion as automotive enthusiasts from all over the region and beyond gather together to enjoy the display along the azure shores of Salem Sound.
They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery – and if so, the legendary designs of Carroll Shelby are among the most admired of all time. Today, if you have the resources, you can buy yourself a near-perfect replica of both the Shelby Cobra and Shelby Mustang from a whole slew of companies. But the rare specimens I spent a few days with in late June are no modern-day knock-offs – they are the real McCoy – stunning specimens of the beauty and ingenuity of Shelby and his team.
