Sun, Rain and a Hearty Helping of Lightning along Jacksonville’s Scenic A1A
Rumor had it that a very rare unicorn-level car, the 10 million dollar Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR, was headed our way as part of the Gold Rush Rally that we posted about earlier today. So, after finishing up photos at the Ritz-Carlton, we headed south on A1A, to the spot where we had begun our afternoon. We never did get to see the car, but what we did get to see was just as amazing.
Another evening of dramatic weather for the Jacksonville, FL area today. Thankfully, I don’t think we have had any tornadoes this eveninng, but the lightning was cracking and the rain came down in 5 gallon buckets! I went out between meetings to take a few photos. Here’s some of our favorites! Enjoy the photos – and of course, feel free to download as HD desktop wallpaper below!
Over the past few weeks, we’ve had some wild weather down in the Southeast. Most afternoons here, the storms build, creating these really beautiful formations of rain-laden clouds that tower into the stratosphere. And this is the kind of weather, though a bit of a gamble, that can yield amazing sunset imagery.
So, I’ve been working on a side project recently to capture the Dames Point Bridge (Jacksonville, FL) from a unique angle. With such pretty weather, I’ve spent a few nights along the marsh, photographing the bridge as the day gives way to night. Here are a few of my favorites from the shoot. Enjoy – and of course, feel free to download as a desktop wallpaper!
It turns out it was worth our effort to plug in our computers, boot them back up, edit and post video from Tropical Storm Beryl to our blog and on YouTube while the storm was still raging outside. As providence would have it, Good Morning America, the Weather Channel, ABC News, and our local station, WJXT all picked up our footage. It’s not often our logo gets placed in front of 5+ million people for free. Granted, the clips were only two or three seconds, but it was still pretty cool! Big thanks to all the networks who featured our video!
If you missed the video the first time, below is our footage of the storm, complete with blowing transformers, wet rain and windy wind! Feel free to check out our other Beryl blog posts for free HD desktop wallpaper as well!
Unless I am severely mistaken, we made it through the storm in one piece. This morning, I took to the roads before sunrise to see what Beryl had left us. All in all, it was better than I expected with lots of little debris in the road, but only a few trees down. Tragically, a port-a-potty was not so lucky – having it’s roof ripped off sometime in the night… But despite the relative tranquility, I still managed to take a few photos here and there.
Here are the rest of the photos – including a reminder that not everyone has Memorial Day off, and a little reptilian friend I found on my journeys this morning. And lest I forget – it is with a somber heart that we at Deremer Studios remember all those who have given that last full measure of devotion to protect what we hold dear. You are not forgotten! Enjoy!
