One Breathtaking Dawn – Lake Oconee

Exploring the Winding Shores and Skies of Central Georgia’s Lake Oconee

Lake Oconee, GA

One of the many perks of being a commercial photographer is the opportunity to experience and explore some of the most beautiful parts of the world as you travel in the service of your clients. One such happy surprise was a recent trip to Lake Oconee, in central Georgia – a location that I didn’t even know existed just a few months ago. As providence would have it, we were treated to a stunning, gold-infused sunrise accented by wisps of fog still lingering from the cool pre-dawn twilight.

More Than Just a Red Carpet – Top Performers Honored at the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island

2014 09 Corporate - Conference FAM 15 - Ritz-Carlton Amelia Isla

We recently had the pleasure of working with another great group visiting the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island on a fanciful and noteworthy familiarization trip.   You’ve heard the phrase, “rolling out the red carpet” – well, as illustrated above, the folks at the Ritz-Carlton didn’t settle for just a red carpet – emblazoning this entire ballroom with scarlet tones to honor this intimate gathering of top performers.  As always, we captured our fair share of food pics along the way, and with this group, we offered a special service – quick-turn-around editing, design and printing of a special custom thank you print for the guests.  And on top of that, thanks to some creative Photoshoppery (that’s a word, right?), we even created a special happy birthday print by adding a banner and text to a group photo (their reaction below).   Thanks as always to the resort, and a special thanks to Dan Leslie from Appleseed Photography for partnering with us to provide top-level service at the event!

Amelia Concours Highlight: 1957 Chrysler Diablo Concept

2014 09 Automotive - 1957 Chrysler Diablo Concept 02 - Amelia Co

Don’t lose heart!  With Pebble Beach having come and gone, we’ve got a dose of Automotive photography to help tide you over until the 2015 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance.  Our September feature provides a closer look at the innovative and ultra-streamlined 1957 Chrysler Diablo Convertible Concept from the 2014 Amelia Concours.  The story of this unique car begins a year earlier, with it’s sister (featured below) – the 1956 Hardtop version of the Diablo.  Employing European wind tunnel testing, this car proved to be the most aerodynamic car made up until that point.   In 1957, the new convertible concept took much of the design features of the hardtop, tamed-down a few of the design elements, removed the roof, and painted it cherry bomb red.  It turned out pretty good, don’t you think?

Bees, Braising and Boats – Memorable Moments visits the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island

2014 08 Corporate - Ritz-Carlton FAM Trip 16 - Salt Cooking Scho

Last week we had the pleasure of working with our friends from the Ritz-Carlton, Amelia Island on a wonderful familiarization trip with Memorable Meetings for some of the country’s top corporate event planners.  We had great fun spending time with this group of folks – from their ocean-side honey-inspired breakfast featuring the resort’s own honey bees, to an energetic and informative cooking school hosted by Chef Rick (above) in the AAA Five Diamond  restaurant, Salt.  The day was capped with dinner on the yacht Amazing Grace at Safe Harbor Boys Home – complete with a stunning sunset and entertainment by the very talented Paul Gertner.

Amelia Concours Highlight: 1914 Mercedes 115HP

2014 08 Automotive - 1914 Mercedes 115HP 01 - Amelia Island Conc

With Pebble Beach just around the corner and the 2015 Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance quickly approaching, we wanted to begin sharing some of our favorite cars from the 2104 Amelia Concours.  This month we’re featuring the stunning 1914 Mercedes 115HP Grand Prix racer.  The car was brought to Amelia to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Mercedes’ 1-2-3 victory at the 1914 French Grand Prix held in Lyons.  The very next year, Ralph de Palma won the Indy 500 in the #2 115HP.   The #28 was raced by the Mercedes factory until sold to Count Louis Zborowski who continued competing in the car until 1922.  For more information and photos of this great series of racers, visit conceptcarz.com.
